Brand Identity (Redesign) - Restaurant & Food IndustryTHE BRIEF
Javi’s is a family-owned restaurant in Portland, Oregon built on generational recipes and a dining room that feels like someone’s home. Its visual identity needed to catch up to its experience. The brief: make the outside match the inside.
THE APPROACH
The redesign stripped everything back to the name itself but needed to work within the constraints of existing interior colors and design. Javi’s — personal, warm, Latino — needed only to be set with intention. A chunky editorial serif in full lowercase established approachability without sacrificing presence. The coffee cup moved from decorative to structural, sitting inside the wordmark rather than floating above it. A red drawn directly from the restaurant’s interior kept the palette rooted in the actual space. Lovelo and Open Sauce completed a three-tier type system built to carry a full menu without losing coherence.
DELIVERABLES
Primary logo, reverse logo, wordmark-only lockup, color system, two-sided menu redesign, and brand mockups.
